Northwestern Consolidated School District of Shelby County is seeking a dynamic Agricultural Science Teacher who is willing to direct a successful agriculture education and FFA program. Qualified applicants should be able to make agriculture education exciting for students and be able to successfully recruit students into the program. The agriculture education instructor will manage the agricultural education program at Triton Central High School, concentrating on plant science, animal science, and horticulture areas. The instructor will supervise an active FFA chapter and serve as advisor. The advisor will focus on preparing students for competitive activities and will accompany them to local, regional, state, and national level as needed. The instructor will assist with grant writing in securing additional funding opportunities as needed and continue current FFA Community Service grants in place. Funding will be provided for professional development including CASE instructional certification and for other needs as determined by the instructor, principal, and superintendent. Recently-built facilities to conduct the agricultural education and FFA program include a 2400 square foot, state-of-the-art greenhouse, mechanical lab, science laboratory and classroom. JOB DESCRIPTION: Tippecanoe Valley High School is looking for an outstanding agriculture science teacher JOB REQUIREMENTS: · Ability to demonstrate knowledge of content and effective pedagogy in AG areas including: Animal Science, Plant & Soil Science, Agriculture Mechanics, Landscaping, Agribusiness Management, SAE, Introduction to Agriculture, Advanced Life Science Courses · Strong desire and motivation to strengthen and grow an existing AG program including cattle and Farm to School. · Ability to serve as a motivated FFA Advisor and grow the program. This would include Career Development Events, Supervised Agriculture Experience, officer training, community service events, fundraising, and working with an advisory board, as well as other chapter activities · Create and maintain a classroom environment of respect and rapport that is conducive to student learning. · Participate in regular collaboration to reflect on teaching, plan instruction, monitor implementation, and respond to student performance data. · Willingness to collaborate with other staff members to assess and assist students in resolving learning and behavior issues. · Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: · Bachelor degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent. Possession of an Indiana Teachers License in the subject area. · Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum. Knowledge of current educational research. Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology. Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles. Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents and others. Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement. Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
