About the Townsend Communication in Agriculture Program

The Townsend Communication in Agriculture Program is funded by the Wayne Townsend family of Hartford City, Ind. After graduating from Purdue University in 1951 with a degree in Agriculture, Mr. Townsend went on to become a respected Indiana legislator, farmer and Purdue University Trustee. He passed away in 2015 after a lifetime of distinguished service to the state of Indiana and Purdue University. Through the Townsend Communication in Agriculture Program, the late Mr. Townsend and his wife, Helen, also a Purdue graduate, continue to support the professional development of students in the Purdue University College of Agriculture and the College of Health and Human Sciences.
