The College of Agriculture professors are linked to industry, government, and research circles and they are willing to come to speak to your high school classes - free of charge. They can explain how genetic research make dollars and sense for catfish, corn, and nursery crop producers, or how international grain sales affect grocery prices in Indiana. Purdue's Youth Development & Agricultural Education Department will help you make the connection.
To use Professors in the Classroom, login and select a first and second choice speaker. Most professors can only schedule two to four high school visits per year and your first choice professor may already be committed to several trips. Then try to select three or four possible dates. Because the professors teach, do research, and travel, we cannot promise that you will always get the date that is your first choice. After making your selections the following will happen.

  1. An e-mail will go out to your first choice professor.
  2. If they are available, an e-mail will come back to you telling you of a date that the professor can meet the request. If they are not available, then it will forward to your second choice.
  3. Once you have received the e-mail from the professor, you will accept or reject the date and the professor will be notified..
  4. Once a date meets both the professor and your schedule, then you will receive a confirmation e-mail from the professor that the request has been scheduled..

During the scheduling process, you can track the status by logging in and reviewing your request notes.
Professors will travel anywhere in the state of Indiana. The School of Agriculture pays travel expenses as long as professors are speaking to high school classes.

We look forward to hearing from you.
