Welcome to the Department of Youth Development and Agricultural Education
The Department of Youth Development and Agricultural Education (YDAE) was formed in 2003 when three established Purdue University programs (Agricultural Education, Extension Education/4-H and the Agricultural Communication academic program) were combined into one academic unit. YDAE's scholarly efforts encompass projects that focus on learning, engagement and discovery in each of the department's three signature areas of life science education, leadership development, and the science of engagement.
The department offers undergraduate degrees in Agricultural Education and Agricultural Communication and a graduate degree in Agricultural and Extension Education.
